Back to Aquafarm 2024 | P-TREX
Logo PTrex

Following the success of the previous edition, P-TREX returns to Aquafarm 2024 at Pordenone Fiere on February 14th and 15th, with an exhibition space in Pavilion 5 – booth 26. This year, the focus encompasses all possible design solutions in FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester) dedicated to aquaculture facilities, shellfish farming, and the sustainable fishing industry.

As a business unit dedicated to the Fiber Net Group industry, P-TREX represents a guarantee in terms of custom solutions, capable of meeting the needs of different players in the various stages of the supply chain, requiring FRP products or structures developed with a focus on safety. Choosing P-TREX products also means minimizing environmental impact and contributing to ecological transition, as they are 100% reusable and recyclable. In our facility in Pavia di Udine, in the carpentry area, specialized teams work on the pre-assembly of structures. The common thread of this activity is attention to detail, verification of quality criteria applied to a product that must maintain reliability and safety throughout its operational life.

Revolutionary Application of Fiberglass in Aquaculture Facilities Aquaculture, the cultivation of aquatic organisms such as fish, mollusks, and crustaceans, is undergoing a significant transformation due to the increasingly widespread use of advanced materials such as Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP), commonly known as fiberglass. This versatile material has proven to offer numerous advantages over traditional metal or concrete structures used in aquaculture facilities. Below, we will explore the reasons for this growing preference and the benefits derived from the application of FRP.

  1. Corrosion Resistance and Durability: One distinctive feature of FRP is its extraordinary resistance to corrosion. In marine environments, where the presence of saltwater can accelerate the corrosion process of traditional materials, FRP proves practically immune to this phenomenon. This results in superior durability of aquaculture facilities, reducing the need for costly maintenance and extending the life of the structures.
  2. Lightweight and Ease of Installation: FRP is known for its lightweight, significantly simplifying the installation process of aquaculture facilities. This characteristic allows not only greater flexibility in the design of structures but also a reduction in transportation and installation costs. Additionally, the ease of processing FRP allows the creation of custom components tailored to the specific needs of each facility.
  3. Thermal and Electrical Insulation: FRP possesses excellent insulating properties, providing a thermal and electrical barrier between water and the underlying structure. This is particularly important in aquaculture facilities, where accurate water temperature management directly affects the health and growth of cultured organisms. Thermal insulation reduces heat dissipation, contributing to maintaining optimal conditions for cultivation.
  4. Chemical Resistance: Due to its chemical composition, FRP is highly resistant to chemicals present in water, such as salts, detergents, and water purification treatments. This ensures that FRP structures maintain their integrity over time, even in aggressive aquatic environments.

In conclusion, the application of FRP in aquaculture facilities represents an advanced and sustainable choice. The combination of corrosion resistance, lightweight, thermal, and electrical insulation, along with chemical resistance, contributes to improving operational efficiency, reducing maintenance costs, and promoting environmental sustainability in the aquaculture industry.

Aquafarm is a unique opportunity to network and engage with other professionals in the aquaculture sector, a context where FRP finds one of its most suitable applications, thanks to corrosion resistance and undisputed economic advantages in the short and long term.

We look forward to welcoming you at our booth no. 26 in Pavilion 5 to experience our aquaculture solutions firsthand.
