Safe and sustainable GRP solutions

Low-impact production, agile on-site handling and assembly, maintenance-free: these are the most well-known answers that P-TREX solutions offer both in terms of environmental sustainability and savings for the client.

Designed and manufactured to last beyond the service life of the works they are to serve, corrosion free and with excellent performance in terms of mechanical strength, they do not require painting or surface treatment. They are unaffected by weathering, UV radiation and do not lose their properties when applied near marine areas, and/or in chemically aggressive environments. This is why the P-TREX product lines are the optimal answer to the typical problems of plants for sewage treatment.

Thanks to these characteristics, which are intrinsic to composite materials, GRP products are increasingly prescribed for the construction of access and maintenance structures inside sewage treatment plants and are increasingly chosen as an improved replacement for conventional materials such as galvanised steel, stainless steel, aluminium and concrete.

In addition to the world of sewage treatment, P-TREX solutions are also applied in drinking water management; in fact, a range of structures suitable for use in aqueducts or where there is direct contact with drinking water are also realised. Also covered by French certification ACS – Attestation de Conformité Sanitaire, they guarantee chemical and physical stability with consequent absence of migration of substances harmful to humans. Sanitary water in contact with P-TREX solutions retains its organoleptic and microbiological characteristics.

Increasingly appreciated by end users, the demand for GRP structures is growing steadily; in particular, water treatment plant operators, as well as those in the mobility sector, are including them in their tender specifications, now preferring them to traditional materials.

These are fibreglass stairs, walkways and maintenance access and service roads, structures pre-assembled in a modular manner, easy-to-install, maintenance-free structures that, thanks to their low weight, can be easily transported to areas that are difficult to access, such as operations at high altitudes.

The pluses of P-TREX?

First and foremost, knowledge of the composite material and the ability to objectively analyse the client’s problem in order to develop the best solution. A perfect combination of transversal skills and technological solidity.

All P-TREX structures are designed ad hoc by a working group dedicated team that combines engineering expertise and management skills, enabling them to intervene in all phases of a project life cycle, from design to procurement to on-site construction.

Particular attention is paid by the group of P-TREX engineers in the development of Specification Items for the works to be realised: precise technical-operational evaluations related to the design, production and installation of this type of material are integrated. Therefore, in the drafting of an item with GRP structures and solutions, the approach is different and more comprehensive than in traditional ones.

P-TREX puts the feasibility study and preliminary context assessments first, to identify and define intervention methods, costs and timeframes in line with the progress of the construction site.

Choosing a P-TREX product or solution is also a guarantee in terms of:

  • continuous R&D activities in cooperation with universities and research institutes and independent bodies;
  • careful selection of the best performing raw materials;
  • constant chemical-physical analysis performed with state-of-the-art equipment at in-house laboratories;
  • controlled production chain.

P-TREX confirms its presence at Ecomondo 2022, which this year celebrates its first 25 years of commitment to innovation in the field of the circular bio-economy.

The Rimini Trade Fair, today IEG, was the first to focus on the creation and valorisation of the concept of waste as a resource, back in 1997, with the ´Ricicla´ brand, which later evolved into ´Ecomondo´. Today, it is a benchmark for social, economic and environmental sustainability research and innovation with a strong international and business focus.
